Welcome to the 57th edition of URN covering publications and news from September 2024
I know working in this area can be super tough but I also know that its rewarding and important and, many of us are lucky enough to able to do this work as a result of our birth/education/a-n-other privilege. This was brought home starkly to me when reading one of the posts in the newsletter below and read this quote:
“While you were busy getting your first professional years of experience, I was busy surviving”.
I wanted to pull it out to share it as a kind reminder that no matter your professional experience you only ever know part of the solution and this is why it's so important to always work with refugees. Stepping off my soapbox now ... :)

Funding opportunities
Windle Trust Fully-funded Postgraduate Scholarships 2025/2026 for Africans to Study in UK are now open for residents of Kenya and Uganda to study at Masters level in the UK - Application Deadline: 15th October 2024 - Applicants are from Africa preferably from the countries of East, Central or the Horn of Africa. These scholarships are primarily funded through the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission Masters and Shared Scholarships schemes, which require additional applications. It is essential that you apply to both Windle Trust International and the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission to be successful in your application. Applications to Windle Trust International are accepted from 15th September 2024 - to 15th October 2024 and must include a copy of an application submitted to the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission. Applications to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission Masters Scholarships are accepted from September 10th 2024 to October 15th 2024.
