Welcome to Edition 27

As more and more refugees from Congo continue to cross into Uganda, funding to ensure an effective response remains elusive. With budgets further stretched, I hope this newsletter helps in some small way to keep the information flowing and increase and improve decision-making and strategizing. On that note, please check out the free training opportunities identified and to be found at the bottom of the email.   • Impactpool - Virtual Careers Fair for African national - A 5-hour online event curated for for mid to senior-level African professionals with with at least 4 years of work experience in sustainable development, humanitarian response, or any related field to chat directly with HR representatives, apply for job vacancies and engage in live career workshops. Thursday 21st April 2022, 12:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. (CEST) Essential criteria: 4+ years of relevant international work experience; A Post-Graduate degree (Bachelors considered with more experience); Multi-lingual (English, French, Arabic, Spanish); an African national (if you have dual-nationality, please enter your qualifying nationality); Please ensure you submit your CV in English when registering.

  • Humuntem - USAID Rules & Regulations - Grants & Cooperative Agreements - May 23, 2022 - Online / EAT (Eastern Africa Time) - Whether you are new to USAID funding or have years of program experience, this highly participatory online workshop will show you how to apply the regulations to benefit your project, staff and organization. Run over 5 days using a combination of live webinars, videos and discussions, learners will be able to: navigate up-to-date USAID rules and regulations with the confidence to find answers, solve common issues and manage audit findings; confidently collaborate and negotiate with key USAID staff, including the AO/AOR; know why, how and when to submit prior approvals, waivers and extensions – and understand how to use them to save time and money; and understand how your organization’s policies and procedures are critical to effective project implementation – and how to make them more efficient.

  • Wellness and Resilience for Frontline Workers and Managers - This course will assist you in understanding the impact that stress is having on your lives and how to build personal and organisational resilience. By the end of the course, you will have developed a personal action plan and increased knowledge of various wellness and resilience techniques to apply during stressful situations.

  • Psychological First Aid for Children - Psychological First Aid (PFA) for Children course will introduce you to the concepts and steps involved in providing support to children following a distressing event. It includes activities that focus on the core elements of PFA and how to apply them in a humanitarian context.

  • Basic Psychological First Aid - This course will teach you the tools and skills to provide effective psychological support based on best practices globally, that you can tailor to your lifestyle, family, friends and communities.
