The summer is often a time when our focus drops but this newsletter is jam packed with content covering an wide range of issues and interestingly, focusing on some under reported areas.
Its been a while since there have been publications on Rwanda refugees and generally male victims of sexual violence is an area that doesn't get a lot of focus. The health sector is - as usual - the most prolific but I think cancer care for refugees is a welcome first this month. Last, a big shout out to those looking at the needs, impact and dynamics of urban refugees - a clear recognition that many refugees are no longer, or not exclusively, settlement based.
The observant amongst you will notice this has come from a different source than usual - we're having issues with our Mailchimp account, so until this is resolved we will be using this service to send the monthly newsletter.

Women human rights defenders and those who identified as, or advocated for the LGBTIQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer) community, face compounded difficulties when moving within and out of Uganda, including arbitrary restrictions by authorities, violations by private actors, and protection concerns

It argues that the growing urbanisation of forcibly displaced people has fostered increasing engagement and partnerships for assistance with local urban actors such as municipal governments and local civil society organisations while at the same time highlighting, and in cases exacerbating, the challenges that many municipalities face in terms of funding and a lack of recognition of urban needs.
